As your District Attorney, I have promoted the rights of victims for more than
twenty-six years.  Child abuse is a crime in which all of society becomes its victim.
Our children are our hope and our future.  For this reason, I am especially pleased
and proud of this Child Justice Center.  I believe we have a program that addresses
the needs of our child victims and their families.  This project has the potential of
touching the lives of everyone of us and can in part reweave a broken thread in the
future of our society.  Our success depends not only upon the diligent efforts of our
office, but more importantly upon your personal involvement.  I welcome your
suggestions and solicit your support.

Sincerely,

Howard S. Boney, Jr.
District Attorney
The primary goal of the Child Justice Center is to provide one-on-one attention, information, and
support to child abuse victims and their families during the criminal prosecution process.  The
secondary goal is to work cooperatively with local community agencies to help fill the gap in services
for children traumatized by abuse.
How You Can Help
If you are interested in learning more about the Child Justice Center, or would like to volunteer your
time to help abused children, please contact us at (252) 977-3264
If you suspect that a child has been abused or neglected, please contact your local
Department of Social Services or law enforcement agency.
The Child Justice Center, located in the Judicial Center in
Rocky Mount, the Nash County Courthouse, and the Wilson
County Courthouse, houses a “child friendly” room at each
site.  This child friendly room, equipped with child sized
furniture, toys, and games, is designed to make children
feel at ease in an otherwise alien adult environment.  The
child friendly room is available for use by all agencies
involved with abused children; including police
investigators, social workers, prosecuting attorneys,
guardians, and therapists.
